Both styles have great benefits
I love the solid extension. As a larger person it’s easier than looking for the flexible one and I fill the space between the back of the seat and the buckle. My mother loves the flexible one. She’s smaller and prefers that it is flexible and rests comfortably on the side of her belly.

I regularly transport my elderly mother to and from various appointments throughout the week and she had difficulty buckling the seatbelt with just the factory seatbelt mechanism.
